A Silk Base Closure is made with a silk base. They are made with hair strands embedded into a nude, skin-like silk material that is reinforced with lace. Silk Base Closures are very durable and tend to last much longer than most hair closures as it does not require bleaching. The knots are not detectable due to the silk fabric backing on the closure, so it mimics the scalp without significant changes. If you’re of a deeper skin tone with a significantly darker scalp, you may need to alter and even tint your silk base. This type of hair closure is usually is a bit thicker, which may make it challenging to achieve a flat weave install.
So, which one is better: Lace Closure or Silk Closure?
Lace Closures are perfect because it gives you a flat and smooth appearance. However, the downside of a Lace Closure is having to bleach or tone the knots for it to blend properly with your scalp. Silk closures are also a great chose because of the a natural-like human scalp and not detectable. It’s honestly a preference.
